Press Conferences Mean Nothing. Seriously!

It seems that some people are impressed that President Obama has, in his first 100 days, had almost as many prime time press conferences as George Bush did in his entire first term.

Yeah, so? Does that really matter as a metric?

I mean, how much brush has Obama cleared in the last 100 days? Huh? Anyone?

How many international treaties has he undone? Probably not a single one!

How many allies has he insulted?

How far has he ridden his mountain bike?

How many weekends has he spent at Camp David — bringing his own pillow along, like a small child?

How many nicknames has he instituted for members of the White House press corps?

How many longtime industry lobbyists has he appointed to lead government agencies that oversee the industry they formerly lobbied for?

How much consumer-protection regulation has he gutted?

How many energy policies has he formulated after meeting only with senior executives of oil, gas, and coal companies?

I could go on. But I think you get what I’m saying…

How many terrorist dictators has he schmoozed, how many Arab kings has he bowed to, how many countries has he apologized to, how many games of horse has he played, how many of his White House Office of Military Affairs appointees have terrorized half of Manhattan, how many times has he frowned at something Joe Biden has said, how many gridiron dinners has he skipped, how many tele-prompters has he worn out, how much deeper is he getting us involved in Afghanistan... well... I get what I'm saying. : ^ )
